10 places to get a very satisfying vegetarian breakfast in Dublin

For those struggling to find their next brunch spot.

1. Queen of Tarts, Cow’s Lane

Queen of Tarts do a decent selection of vegetarian options on their weekday menu. From a fry with beans isolated on the side (this is extremely important to a lot of people) to a selection of much sweeter options, they cover most bases.

2. Cornucopia, Wicklow Street

The most obvious vegetarian/vegan spot, but if you’re up early they also do a really nice breakfast from Monday to Saturday until noon. There’s loads of options to choose from from Frittatas to vegan sausages to hash browns to scrambled tofu. They also do pancakes and crepes if you’re in the humour of something sweet.

3. Herbstreet, Hanover Quay

Apart from their really good pancakes, they have all of the usual stuff – avocado toast, french toast, toast and eggs, porridge and waffles. On the weekend their brunch menu also includes vegan and veggie burgers.

 4. Coppinger Row

Unfortunately Coppinger Row only open for brunch on Sundays, but it’s worth checking out if you ever have a Sunday off. The dish above is mushroom asparagus, poached eggs and hollandaise on toast and it’s more filling than it looks. They also do brioche French toast, and eggs Florentine too.

5. Woolen Mills, Ormond Quay

Everywhere does some kind of dish with poached eggs, but Woollen Mills one is a bit different. They serve their eggs on a butternut squash bhaji and some spinach and then drizzle mango marmalade and sheep’s yogurt on it.

They also do a lovely peanut butter and jam French toast and a load of other treats during breakfast time on Monday to Saturday. On Sunday, they add a couple more options to the brunch menu – an egg and waffle sandwich as well as pea and mint falafel with eggs.

6. Drury Buildings, Drury Street

On Saturdays  and Sundays, you can get brunch and a cocktail for €15 here. The main vegetarian option on the menu is mushrooms on sourdough toast and it’s pretty good. For that price, you can find little to complain about.

7. San Lorenzos, Georges Street

The good thing about San Lorenzos is that brunch is not just reserved for people who have Saturday and Sunday off of work. They provide a good service to the hardworking people of Dublin by proudly offering weekday brunch.  They do the usual host of poached egg dishes as well as some tasty pasta and coco-pops French toast if you fancy something sweeter.

8. Brother Hubbard

Brother Hubbard are also kind enough to offer brunch until 4.30pm every weekday. The majority of their menu is vegetarian and there’s also vegan options too, so there are plenty of options.

9. Avoca

Every main course option on their menu is vegetarian except for the full Irish. They also do amazing mushrooms that are impossible to replicate at home.

10. The Pepper Pot, Powerscourt Centre

The Pepper Pot probably do the most filling serving of scrambled eggs you will find. It doesn’t look like a lot but once you have eaten 75% of it, you will really feel it, which is unfortunate because you won’t have room afterwards for one of their impressive selection of cakes.
